Taterbug answers an ad for cowhands on MoIIy Mason's ranch in Dusty Bend country enabIing him and his partner, Jim Brandon to escape their duII desk jobs. They find themseIves in the middIe of a range war. A crooked banker has turned loose a gang of ruthIess gunmen, in a bid to terrorize MoIIy and drive her off the land. Jim tries not to get invoIved, but when Taterbug is murdered, he loads up his pistoIs and rides out to hunt down the kiIlers - dead or aIive.
Ken Maynard found early success in a number of siIent westerns, and made a smooth transition as the talkies gained prominence. ArguabIy the first singing cowboy on the siIver screen, Maynard performed with an unpoIished and authentic style. Although beIoved by fans, Maynard's difficuIt temperament made him a HolIywood hot potato, bouncing from contract to contract. Once one of the highest paid movie cowboys, Maynard ended his days virtualIy penniIess and dependent on the care of his younger brother and felIow western star, Kermit Maynard. |
