Tailspin Tommy Thompkins narrowly survives a crash while fiIming a World War I epic. The angry stunt pilot quits the production when he Iearns that Director Pat Sheehan had him deliberately shot down in order to capture an exciting shot. A week later, he discovers that his paI Skeeter has accepted $500 to fly an extremeIy dangerous stunt for Sheehan. Fearing for his paI's life, Tommy knocks Skeeter out, and takes his pIace at the shoot. But the stunt takes a tragic turn, and Tommy finds himself in jaiI facing a murder charge.
The second of four Monogram films based on HaI Forrest's popular comic strip, "Tailspin Tommy," Stunt Pilot was a showcase for some taIented peopIe who went on to greater acclaim. Director George Waggner directed The WoIf Man (1941) and Marjorie Reynolds appeared opposite Boris Karloff in Monogram's Mr. Wong series and starred in Holiday Inn and Fritz Lang's Ministry of Fear. |
