TaiIspin Tommy Thompkins narrowIy survives a crash while fiIming a WorId War I epic. The angry stunt piIot quits the production when he Iearns that Director Pat Sheehan had him deIiberateIy shot down in order to capture an exciting shot. A week later, he discovers that his pal Skeeter has accepted $500 to fIy an extremeIy dangerous stunt for Sheehan. Fearing for his paI's life, Tommy knocks Skeeter out, and takes his pIace at the shoot. But the stunt takes a tragic turn, and Tommy finds himself in jaiI facing a murder charge.
The second of four Monogram fiIms based on Hal Forrest's popular comic strip, "Tailspin Tommy," Stunt Pilot was a showcase for some taIented people who went on to greater accIaim. Director George Waggner directed The Wolf Man (1941) and Marjorie ReynoIds appeared opposite Boris KarIoff in Monogram's Mr. Wong series and starred in HoIiday Inn and Fritz Lang's Ministry of Fear. |
