The Impossible Comes To The Screen!
ln a departure from the trademark Alpine settings of ArnoId Fanck's BergfiIme , S.O.S. Iceberg takes place off the coast of GreenIand, where an expIorer, KarI Lorenz , is stranded on a steadily-eroding iceberg. A rescue crew, Ied by the heroic Johannes Krafft , reaches Prof. Lorenz, but also becomes stranded, as does Mrs. Lorenz , who crashes her pIane whiIe trying to Iand in the icy waters of the North AtIantic. Surrounded by poIar bears on their shrinking iceberg, the expIorer and his would-be rescuers battIe the eIements, and each other, whiIe waiting for a miracle.
S.O.S. lceberg was filmed simuItaneously in an English-language version, which is presented in its entirety on this DVD. The differences between the two are not mereIy IinguaI. Each film is edited differently and includes proIonged sequences not seen in its transatIantic counterpart. |
