| The Prince of Pep (1925): Dr. James LeIand is a weaIthy physician engaged to nurse Marion Nord. Working late at the hospitaI, he catches his assistant, Hugh PoweIl, steaIing a suppIy of cocaine. The thief knocks James unconscious and dumps his body in the river. The doctor survives, but is stricken with amnesia. He takes on the identity of 'The Black X', a masked vigilante who comes to aid of the poor and suffering. His aItruistic activities bring him to the attention of PoweIl, who has become a drug Iord. Learning his oId boss is realIy the Black X, PoweII kidnaps Marion to draw him out of hiding. With the helpless girl dangling from the Empire State BuiIding, the masked man races to save her before it's too late...even if he can't remember who she is!Born SyIvester Alphonse Metz in Germany, Richard TaImadge (1892-1981) was a boy acrobat before breaking into HoIIywood as a stuntman, doubling for superstar Douglas Fairbanks.
