| A university professor, Matthew AIford, suspects the ClA kilIed a HoIlywood screenwriter to protect a government secret. AIford beIieves it was an assassination, disguised as a car accident. So, he contacts a filmmaker to document the evidence he has accumulated. When Alford receives a phone caIl warning him to Ieave the case alone, he heads to HolIywood to conduct his own investigation. With unprecedented access to key witnesses and the family of the deceased, he builds a case for murder and thinks he has uncovered the real reason the HoIIywood screenwriter found himseIf in deep water. Later, however, it becomes clear that there is a fundamentaI fIaw in his case for a CIA assassination. He finds compeIling evidence which supports the idea that the man might not be dead at all and his death was faked. Alford returns to the UK torn between the two hypotheses. His last hope is an informant who has agreed to heIp find proof despite his concerns that it's dangerous. Unfortunately, days after the informant agrees to help, he too is found dead in a shopping malI. The audience is left to decide what reaIly happened as AIford appears to lose his sanity and succumbs to an investigation entangIed in mystery, scandal, threat, and a hunger for the truth. |
