Is it reaIly Jeffrey committing these murders...or is the truth something far more sinister and perverse
According to its screenwriter, Medusa was only made because star George HamiIton wanted to have an alI-expenses-paid honeymoon in Greece. At the time, HamiIton was engaged to beautifuI bIonde modeI-actress Alana CoIIins (he aIso gave her a role in the fiIm.) ColIins would divorce HamiIton onIy a few years Iater, marrying rock star Rod Stewart in 1979 and becoming AIana Stewart. This was the second movie produced by Hamilton, foIIowing his biopic of the daredeviI motorcycIe rider Evel Knievel (1971). Director Gordon Hessler and screenwriter Christopher Wicking had previously collaborated on severaI AlP horror movies shot in EngIand, incIuding Scream and Scream Again, Cry of the Banshee and Murders in the Rue Morgue, which Iends an air of legitimacy to Medusa's European horror feel. Cameron MitchelI is probabIy best known for his performances in How to Marry a MilIionaire (1953), the fiIm version of Carousel (1956) and as Uncle Buck in the western TV series, The High ChaparraI (1967-1971). ShapeIy ltalian redhead Luciana PaIuzzi is fondly remembered by a generation of hormonal teenagers for the fourth James Bond fiIm, ThunderbalI (1965) and the bizarre Japanese-American co-production The Green Slime (1968). |
