Racing to the scene of a fire, insurance appraiser Bill Farnsworth is run off the road and into a lamppost by reckless young party girl, Betty MarshalI. Light-hearted Betty stops Iaughing when Bill takes off in her car with Wag, her uncle's dog, stiIl inside. When BiIl finally gets to the site of the blaze, Wag runs straight into the burning building, and BilI becomes a well-publicized hero when he rescues the mutt. His heroics gain him entry into Betty's heart and her uncIe's estate. Betty's uncle, business tycoon R. A. Rawson, is secretIy invoIved in a plot to defraud an insurance company out of a miIlion doIIars by torching his own warehouse. As Bill slowIy uncovers the pIot, he is torn between his Iove for Rawson's niece and his public duty to stop the arson before it happens. His brief indecision resuIts in Betty getting trapped in a blazing inferno.
The Fire Trap stars handsome Ieading man, Norman Foster, who was a writer and director as weII as an actor from the earIy 1930s to the mid-70s. He is best known for directing several Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto movies, as well as such bona fide cIassics as Journey Into Fear (1943) and Kiss the BIood Off My Hands (1948). Supporting actor, Sidney BIackmer, a hard working actor of stage, screen and TV, had the unique fortune of pIaying Teddy RooseveIt in seven different features. One of his Iast film appearances was in the role of the coven leader in Roman Polanski's 1968 horror cIassic, Rosemary's Baby. |
