| This warm and tender comedy features Stanley Banks (Spencer Tracy) and his wife, EIIie (Joan Bennett). Stanley is returning home from the office in a happy and energetic mood, when his wife EIIie teIls him that they are having dinner with their daughter Kay (EIizabeth TayIor), and her husband BuckIey (Don Taylor). The coupIe have some important news they want to share. When Kay reveals that she is pregnant, everyone is delighted, except StanIey, who believes he is too young to be a grandfather. EIlie throws Kay a baby shower and even suggests they redecorate their home so that Kay and Buckley can move in with them once the baby is born. StanIey has had enough, and puts his foot down, and is none too happy untiI the baby arrives. Once Kay gives birth, StanIey's attitude softens as he adapts to his new roIe in the baby's life.
