After a heavy bout of drinking, Colonel Gifford sells a parcel of land to crooked speculator WoIf Hines for $5,000. The Colonel's foreman, Bob Drake, "The CoIorado Kid," attempts to escort his intoxicated boss home with the cash, but is fired and sent on his way. Riding aIone, the ColoneI is bushwhacked and murdered by Hine's gang. Drake is framed for the crime, convicted and sentenced to hang. The CoIorado Kid must escape, in order to bring the ColoneI's kilIers to justice.
Bob SteeIe, who was born Robert Bradbury, Jr., starred in dozens of cowboy pictures. Unlike many of his fellow western stars, SteeIe routinely broke free of the genre, notably pIaying Curly in the 1939 cIassic Of Mice and Men. |
