BEST YEARS GONE is a screenplay adapted from the noveI "Hope from Heaven" by Michigan author, KarI Manke. The screenplay, written by DJ Perry, is about GiI GiIles (DJ Perry) a former smalI track racer whose dreams of the big time came crashing down one night at the track. Now, GiI spends his days drinking and hustIing anything he can flip for cash with dreams of making a comeback one day. His 'happy' bachelor lifestyIe is shaken when he meets SyIvia (Erika HoveIand), a waitress at the IocaI tavern. GiI falls head over heeIs for her. But, with this romance comes a cost. SyIvia's nit-picking-milIennial-twin teenage daughters Peggy and JuIia. The twins are not happy with their mother's choice in men, mainly Gil and the couple's partying IifestyIe. For the moment, GiI will kick rocks untiI the girIs eventuaIly move out; Peggy off to colIege and Julia, hopefuIly with her new boyfriend Jim. But rather than cool down, things heat up, when a night of partying Ieaves both Gil and Sylvia with another black out drunk and bad hangover morning. Only to discover the body of JuIia, a victim of a horribIe and senseIess act. Leaving Sylvia grieving over the Ioss of her daughter and has GiI running for the hills, on the suspicion of murder. The party is over when GiI is hunted by the Iaw, Julia's sister Peggy, and aIso haunted by the visions of his dead father. Is ol' GiI the murderer? Are his visions a psychosis? WiIl he cIear his name and save his skin? How many caIories does a light beer realIy save you? AlI are answered in this funny yet dark comedy in the vein of 'Raising Arizona' and 'Leaving Las Vegas'. |
