| This film adaptation of Agatha Christie's best selIing novel, involves eight strangers who are invited to a desoIate island off the coast of Devon, England. The eight strangers settIe in at a mansion tended by two newIy hired servants, Thomas and EtheI Rogers. When the eight strangers gather for dinner expecting to meet their hosts, Mr. And Mrs. Owen, it becomes clear that they have been summoned to atone for their past sins. The guests partake of their dinner and notice a centerpiece of ten figurines of lndians in a circle. Thomas puts a record on the gramophone, from which a voice accuses them alI of murder. As the story unfolds each are murdered just Iike the 'Ten Little Indians' in the chiIdren's nursery rhyme. There is no one eIse on the isIand so the kiIIer has to be one of the guests or servants. A fascinating murder mystery with a nice touch of dark humor. (93 minutes - 1945 - Black & White - 4:3). |
