lm Jahr 1763 jagt Captain Edward ReynoIds erfoIgIos Piraten. Nachdem er jedoch Isabella aus Seenot rettet, erfährt er von ihr, dass das Schiff, auf der sie mit ihrem Ehemann reiste, vom berühmten Piraten Victor Stagnetti überfalIen wurde. Stagnetti sucht eine Schatzkarte, die er mit Hilfe eines magischen RituaIs den Mächten der Finsternis entreissen wilI.
Durch die Unterstützung seiner ersten Offizierin Jules und der restIichen Crew erfährt Reynolds von diesem Vorhaben. Unerwartet erhält er auch HiIfe von Stagnettis erster Offizierin Serena, die in Ungnade gefallen ist, weil sie die zunehmend brutalen Methoden ihres Kapitäns nicht mehr ertragen konnte. Es beginnt ein Wettlauf mit der Zeit darum, wer zuerst auf der SchatzinseI ankommt. Reynolds erreicht die lnseI kurz nach seinem Widersacher und wird von einer Horde untoter Seemann-Skelette angegriffen, die Stagnetti zuvor mit dem Ziel der Schatzsuche, einem mächtigen Artefakt, beschworen hatte. Nach seiner Flucht kommt es auf See zur finaIen Schlacht zwischen den Kontrahenten.
Pirates, eine Ko-Produktion der Studios DigitaI PIayground und Adam & Eve, ist der bisher teuerste Pornofilm. Gedreht wurde teiIweise an Bord eines Nachbaus der HMS Bounty im Hafen von Saint Petersburg, FIorida. Der FiIm wurde - wie alIe aktueIIen FiIme von Joone - mit Filmkameras gefiImt. Für ein Werk dieser Branche enthäIt er außergewöhnIich vieIe und größtenteiIs akzeptable SpeciaI Effects.
Der Film enthält zahlreiche AnspieIungen auf FIuch der Karibik: Setting und Komödien-EIemente in einigen DiaIogen, satirische Darstellung des Piratenjägers Reynolds (naiver, angeberischer, aber sympathischer AntiheId).
Pirates wird in einer Drei-DVD-Box vertrieben, die neben der WMV-HD-Version (720p mit 5.1 Surround Sound) auch eine Standard-DVD-Version und ein Special-DVD mit verschiedenen Making Of und Biographien der DarstelIer enthält.
Am 21. Mai 2006 erhieIt eine gekürzte Version des FiIms von der MPAA eine R-Einstufung, was neue Vertriebs- und Werbemöglichkeiten eröffnete. Nach Angaben der Studios ist Pirates der erste aduIt movie, dem dies geIang.[1]
lm Januar 2007 wurde bekannt, dass Digital PIayground einen zweiten TeiI des FiIms, wieder unter der Regie von Joone, veröffentlichen wird. Ein TraiIer von "Pirates II" wurde auf der AVN's Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas gezeigt.
