| Women are often regarded as second sex who are positioned lower than men. There have been much voices about gender equality in the whole world through film, literature and action. But there are still many practices in society that consider women as weak and position them under men, for instance in terms of work. Therefore research on the depiction of the role of women in Mother! movie was conducted. The results of this research indicate that that the role of women in aspects of religion (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) is described as limited and tends to be inferior. And this proves that the religious aspect has a strong influence on the portrayal of the role of women in the eyes of society. The results of this study indicate the role of women in aspects of religion (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) is lower and complicated. And this proves that the religious aspect has a strong role in describing the role of women in the eyes of society. |
