| Malaria and malnutrition are two frequent pathologies in Mali, and can aggravate each other in children under 5. The survey was carried out in the Guelelenkoro CSCom from March to November 2021, among children aged 0 to 59 months. All malaria-positive RDT cases received in consultation were assessed for nutritional status. Our study included 256 children aged 0-59 months suffering from malaria, 172 of whom (67.19%) had uncomplicated malaria and 27 (10.55%) severe malaria, of whom 57 (22.26%) were malnourished. The incidence of malaria varied from 0.54 to 2.55 per month, with an average of 2 people at risk. Among the various forms of malnutrition, the prevalence of underweight was 19.14%, followed by acute malnutrition (18.75%) and chronic malnutrition (3.12%).The 24-59 months age group was the most exposed to and most represented by malnutrition. Males predominated with 53.52%.Malaria was significantly associated with malnutrition. |
