| Essay from the year 2021 in the subject American Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 2,0, University of Tubingen (Englisches Seminar), course: The Beatles and America (Post-1900), language: English, abstract: The main purpose of this research paper is to analyze the connection between the establishment of early feminist movements in the 1960s and the global success of the Beatles. I argue that the Beatles and their music had a direct influence on the feminist movement in the United States. To elaborate an in-depth analysis of the correlation between the Beatles and the first rise of feminism, I start off by providing a brief illustration of post-war women¿s role in society, followed by an illustration of the main concerns that led to the formation of a feminist movement. Furthermore, I am going to depict how women¿s liberation groups were fighting for gender equality. Finally, I will explain the phenomenon of "Beatlemania" and certain aspects of the Beatles¿ musical career in relation to the demands of gender equality as well as previous musicians in order to answer my thesis. |
