Food Security is the access to enough food by all people at all time for an active and healthy life. India is truly developing now and its income, infrastructure, per capita income has also developed .But the major problem faced by India is ¿the problem of food management and its distribution¿. Under the Indian Constitution, there is no explicit recognition of food security to the people. However, it can be seen as one of the implications of ¿right to life,¿ enshrined in Article 21.The Public Distribution System (PDS) supplies food items, such as food grains and sugar, at administered prices through fair price shops. There have been a range of food-for-work and other wage employment programmes. The judiciary has also played a significant role in achieving the aim of food security. It is the Supreme Court which recognized the right to food as an essential element of right to life guaranteed under article 21 of the constitution way back in 1981.In pursuance of the obligations under Indian constitution and International conventions, providing for food security to all citizens has been the focus of the Government's planning and policy.
