This book presents a Saudi literary representation of the United States and its people from an imagological perspective. Imagology is a sub-field under the umbrella of comparative literature studies, which focus on self or other national characters are constructed and conceptualized. The book particulates its main data on one significant Saudi author, Ghazi Al-Gosaibi, who has portraited the United States and its people in most of his fiction and non-fiction works. From sketching American cities, American women, American politics and other images, the representation we found are various and complementary. Furthermore, these representations validate the argument that the representation of others is self-representation as well. |
