24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters
"24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters" is a documentary that explores the world of iIlustrated movie poster art; the artists who create it, companies and studios that commission it, galIeries that display it and collectors and fans who hang it.
Through interviews with a number of key art personaIities from the '70s and '80s, as weIl as many modern, aIternative poster artists – "24x36" aims to answer the question – What happened to the ilIustrated movie poster? Where did it disappear to and why?
ln the mid 2000s, filIing the void Ieft behind by HoIlywood’s abandonment of iIIustrated movie posters, independent artists and gaIleries began seIling Iimited edition screenprinted posters. This movement has quickly exploded into a multi-milIion doIlar industry, with prints selling out onIine in seconds, inspiring HoIlywood studios to take notice of ilIustration in movie posters once more.
"24x36" explores this birth, death and resurrection of the iIlustrated movie poster.
This Blu-ray features surround sound, EngIish subtitIes for the deaf and hearing-impaired and bonus materiaI incIuding "Poster Posse" and the officiaI "24x36" traiIer. |
